Reflection on Amazing Race

The Clementi neighbourhood was quite big. I found that many people that live there were really old. But there were many places like the elderly's gyms and medical centre etc. There was also a social gathering for them. It was a mature estate as I could not really see any young populations there. We went from places to places to reach our destinations. In mid way, we stopped at Mcdonalds for recess. I ordered a Fillet'o'Fish meal with lemon tea and hashbrowns... It costed $4.80. When we finished the Amazing Race, we reported to Mr Lam to do the cheer and we were number 6 in 9 classes. We can contribute to the community by doing Clean and Green project and clean up the surroundings by cleaning the old folk's home and also to pick up litter in the neighbourhood. We can also do social gathering and talk to the elderlies to keep them from being bored. We can do it as part of our CIP. Today's trip was really a real eye-opener for me.

Teambuilding challenge

5 January 2010,

Today, our class went for a teambuilding challenge. It was quite challenging but it was a very good experience for me, or should I say the whole class. We manage to create the longest line in within the three classes by first using our shoes and even took out the shoe laces to increase the length of the line and then everyone, including our two teachers, lied down on the floor and stretch ourselves to reach the max. length we could. The scavenger hunt was quite funny as we took photos of almost everything in our school and use it as the object we must find. The goal was mainly to find an object starting with the letters of School Science Technology Singapore. Then we also had to create a cheer for our class: 1-07, 1-07, Who are we? (chorus) Pioneer batch of SST! 1-07, lucky 7 super 7, We are the best! It was kindof short but it was quite a good cheer came up by Marcus. The teambuilding challenge was really a great experience for the whole class.

Bridge build

4 Jan 2010,
Well actually it is 5 January... but still wanna put up this post about the building project we did yesterday. It was really fun and it req. a lot of creativity. The theme we chose was the 'Lifting Bridge' it was generally one of the hardest bridge to make...We had a bunch of materials to make it: Ice cream sticks, straws, nylon strings, corrugated fibreboard, duct tape, double sided tape... basically these materials... we manage to create the bridge successfully (there were other classes and groups too) and reporters started to go around to take pictures of the bridges we made and interview the leaders of the groups. It was really a very exciting day for me. :)

Reflection on bridge building

I feel that it is a very fun experience and I gain a sense of achievement. I think that the interaction between our groups could have been better. We should listen to each of our ideas before deciding on the structures and the extra features. We should have spent more time on planning too. I feel that I should make sure that other group members know my ideas and be able to improve on the project. At first I felt that because we did not know each other much yet, communication would be difficult. But overcoming the difficulty was not too hard as we do communicate well.

Blogging is really quite new to me, but I am sure i will be able to master it easily with the guide vid posted by the teacher. Using a blog will sure become an essential part in learning @ SST. It is useful when doing school projects for discussion. Comments made by teachers and friends will help a lot too.

Haha...This is just like how I feel when I got accepted to SST. All the hard work done in primary six has finally paid off. With PSLE over, I have to start to work hard for the secondary exams. Being accepted into SST is a pleasure to me, so I will work hard! :)
